Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. The word "synesthesia" comes from the Greek phrase for "to perceive together. “ It causes the brain to process data in the form of several senses at once.
