Sondage (Survey) immerses viewers in a topographical exploration of sepia tones, where warm hues evoke time passing and a melancholic atmosphere. Line protrusions drawn onto textured landscapes create a density that prompts stacks of memory and reality. This sepia narrative invites contemplation on how ephemeral experiences intertwine with the enduring qualities of the past, revealing stories waiting to be discovered. Rooted in Sébastien Pitt’s Segments series, this piece embodies his approach of crafting dreamscapes that merge perception and affect. Created with a custom MAX8 patch for 3D audiovisual performance, each scene features intricate 3D structures with vertex displacement and transparency shaders, creating evolving textures and layered depths in a 360° rotation at 0.01 Hz. Rendered at 4K vertical @60fps in a 100-second loop, it uses ProRes 4444 and CPU-compressed H.264 via FFmpeg.
